May 28, 2010
I hiked the Nankoweap Trail for the first time in May of 2010.
The trip was my friend Donnie’s idea, and he invited our friend Timmy as well. We all worked at the El Tovar together, and managed to get 5 days off to make it happen.
I have hundreds of photos from the hike, so I divided it into 6 separate posts.
This final entry documents the 5th and last day of the trip. We simply retraced our steps from Tilted Mesa to the park boundary, and on to the upper trailhead in the cool forest above Saddle Mountain.
We retrieved the water cache from Marion Point, but it was barely needed (at least for me) after hauling extra water up from Nankoweap Creek.
The snow bank that gave us trouble on the first day melted away during our time in the Canyon.
Even further, someone cleared the tree trunk from across the road, though I suppose Donnie was more than ready to jump it again his Mustang. 🙂
