The Appalachian Trail
The Appalachian Trail is where it all started for me… and for you too, maybe.
It is classic. Epic. The long green tunnel. It changes lives. It changed mine.
I started in April 2001 from Springer Mountain, Georgia, when I was 20 years old. I left the trail in Vermont in September 2001 after 9/11. There would have been too much snow in Maine by the time I got there anyway.
In 2002 I returned to Vermont, and finished the hike to Mount Katahdin, Maine. I hiked The Appalachian Trail. It still feels good to say that. It was tough - still the most difficult thing I’ve accomplished.
