Rim Trail from Hopi Point to Hermit’s Rest

When I first arrived at the Grand Canyon in 2008, one of my first hikes I set out to do was to walk the entire rim trail. It turned out that this was impossible because of construction along the Hermit Road that year, so I thought it would make sense to complete the rim trail as one of first walks on March 5, 2009.

The Salt Creek drainage as seen from the rim.

The Supai formation seen here is called the Alligator.

This is “The Abyss,” looking down into the Monument Creek drainage.

Pima Point – from this overlook you can not only see, but also hear Granite and Hermit Rapids, about a mile below.

Hermit’s Rest, and the west end of The Rim Trail. From here I rode the free shuttle bus back to the village.
