In December of 2009 I visited Monument Valley once again. It was excellent to be able to leave the snow-bound Grand Canyon South Rim and drive to lower, warmer elevations.
On the way there we made a detour to Horseshoe Bend, a famed overlook in the Marble Canyon area of Grand Canyon. It was my first visit to this site, only a few miles south of Page along route 89, and a three-quarter-mile hike from the highway. The parking area and trailhead are obvious along the west side of the road.

The day in Monument Valley started with some misty clouds and a little snow.

“Hey Spike, can we run alongside Jamie’s car for awhile?! C’mon Spike, can we?!?!?!”
I love Monument Valley.
