On November 19, 2009, I set out with my friend Timmy to do some hikes in the Marble Canyon area. We made it to Jackass Canyon, Cathedral Wash, and a short section of the Spencer Trail at Lees Ferry before calling it a day.
Cathedral Wash is technically not a part of the Grand Canyon, rather located in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, between Lees Ferry and the Navajo Bridge. We simply parked along the road to Lees Ferry and began heading east down the wash. I think this may be the northernmost side canyon that goes to the Colorado River south of Lake Powell, a relatively short 2.5 mile round trip. It’s an excellent, easy day hike, but some parts of the canyon require scrambling and use of your hands, though nothing even close to technical climbing.

After exiting Cathedral Wash we attempted to fit in a hike up the Spencer Trail, but darkness fell and we aborted the hike.
